سلام به زبان‌آموزان عزیز وبسایت eflhere! من میترا لطفعلی هستم و در کوئیز این هفته، یه درس لغت، با موضوع رایج و کاربردی براتون حاضر کردم: توصیف مشاغل به زبان انگلیسی!
خب، اولین قسمت اینه که بدونیم چطور میشه از یک نفر، راجع به شغلش سؤال پرسید؟! چند تا از انواع متداول این سوالات در زبان انگلیسی به شکل زیر هستن:
What do you do?
What does she do for a living?
What sort of work does he do?
همه‌ی سؤالات بالا به این معنی هستن: شغل شما چیه؟ فقط یادتون باشه که وقتی ضمیر فاعلی رو (I,You, He,They…) برای افراد مختلف، تغییر میدیم، لازمه که فعل اصلی جمله رو هم مناسب با اون، تغییر بدیم.
در جواب به سؤالاتِ بالا، می‌تونیم از ساختارهای زیر استفاده کنیم و راجع به شغلمون صحبت کنیم:
I’m a/ an + job
I’m a teacher.
She’s an engineer.
He is a journalist.
در مثال‌های بالا، عنوان شغلی افراد رو بیان کردیم. برای اینکه زمینه‌ی کاری و یا محل کار افراد رو توضیح بدیم، می‌تونیم از ساختار زیر استفاده کنیم:
I work in + field
I work in education.
She works in construction.
He works in journalism.
نکته: برای توصیف محل کار افراد، حتماً باید از یک حرف تعریف، a,the، استفاده کرد:
I work in a teaching school.
They work in the accounting department.
He works in the marketing department.
خب، حالا می‌تونیم جملات بالا رو بهم بچسبونیم و راجع به کارمون توضیح کامل‌تری بدیم:
Ms. Clark is dentist. She works in an oral surgery clinic.
Mr Jones is a pilot. He works in aviation, for British Airways.
نکته: در مثال آخر، اسمِ شرکت هم ذکر شده و برای این کار از حرف اضافه‌ی for استفاده کرده‌یم.
حالا وقتشه که وارد جزئیات بیشتری برای توصیف شغلمون بشیم؛ مثل ساعات کاری و یا مسئولیتی که سرکار به عهده داریم:
We usually work day shift. But this week we’re on nights.
I always work eight hours a day.But my boss asked me to work overtime last week.
نکته: برای بیان “اضافه کاری” از کلمه‌ی overtime استفاده می‌کنیم (مثال دوم).
I’m a flight attendant. I have to take care of passengers’ needs, particularly those with special needs. I’m responsible for keeping them safe and ensuring that everyone follows security regulations. Most of my time is spent Serving, and sometimes selling, beverages, meals, or snacks to passengers.
همونطور که در مثال بالا می‌بینین، برای اضافه کردن جزئیات یک شغل و یا بیان مسئولیت‌های شغلی، از ساختارهای I have to, I’m responsible for, Most of my time is spent میشه استفاده کرد.
خب، نوبت میرسه به توصیف “احساسمون” راجع به کارمون! احساس ما می‌تونه مثبت و با منفی باشه:
Positive Adjectives
Susie is a speech and language therapist. Her job is extremely rewarding, as she helps children with treatment of important functions like speaking.
George enjoys his job a lot and he describes it as a challenging job. He’s a reporter which means he should be in constant contact with public and this makes it really exciting for him.
Negative Adjectives
My friend always complains that he has a dead-end job and there’s no room for promotion.
Mike is fax operator in a small company. It’s a really mind-numbing job, just sitting and looking at the fax!
البته همه که شاغل نیستن، درسته؟! بعضی‌ها ممکنه خانه‌دار باشن:
Tina’s husband doesn’t work and he’s a homemaker.
Sophie quit her job when she got pregnant, because she preferred to be a full-time mother and look after of her children. Now she’s a housewife.
یا اینکه بازنشسته باشن:
Mr. Grey is now a retired man and he has lots of time to pursue his old hobbies.
یا اینکه بیکار باشن:
My brother is between jobs right now. He’s looking for a part-time job.
Anthony is unemployed and he needs money.
نکته: اگه بخوایم از کلمه و یا عبارت “مثبت”تری برای توصیف افراد بیکار استفاده کنیم، بهتره که از جمله اول و عبارت between jobs استفاده کنیم.
خب، به اندازه‌ی کافی، کلمه و عبارت برای توصیف مشاغل به زبان انگلیسی یاد گرفتیم، حالا می‌تونیم همشونو بزاریم کنار هم و یک شغل رو به طور کامل توصیف کنیم:
| I’m an English teacher. I work in a language school called Brighton. I mainly work six hours a day, but sometimes we have to do overtime especially during exam seasons. I am responsible for teaching English language to children between 9-12 years old. I also need to cooperate in preparing educational material for our school monthly magazine because I have a column about language learning strategies. For me, it’s a highly satisfying job, working with children and being able to teach them new skills makes me feel totally happy. |  |
